Gentrified Grafiti

Even though New York City's East Village has been largely tamed by gentrification, a little character remains...









Based on that last one, even graffiti is not above gentrification. It is pretty clever, though.

I am truly truly impressed that Tide managed to gentrify grafitti.

I still won't buy Tide though.

Thanks for your comments everyone. Don't know what the arrangement is between the makers of Tide and the Tide graffiti. It's possible that the graffiti artist just really likes Tide and wanted to spread the word, but it seems more likely that Tide actually commissioned someone to paint this. Given that it says 'Happy Halloween,' I wonder if it's something that gets done over from time to time, like a billboard. I think I need to return to NYC next weekend to check. ;)
