Medical Research is Fun

Drink coffee and get $200 bucks? Sweet. But is it Starbucks coffee or Dunkin' Donuts? Because if it's Dunkin' Donuts, I'm not sure that $200 is enough compensation for the inconvenience.

Oh, wait, the study is comparing caffeinated vs. non-caffeinated and study subjects who get randomized to the decaf arm have to give up real coffee. Screw that!

Pros: 47 nights free lodging AND $203/day for doing diddly squat. Cons: During the study participants are more or less held hostage in the sleep lab, no incoming or outgoing phone calls allowed.

But, still, you'd think this would be a great opportunity for the homeless. Especially with winter coming up and all.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely nothing to do either of these studies. I do not work at either facility mentioned. This
post should in no way be construed as an enticement to enroll in either study. Or to not enroll in either study. This post should in no way be taken to suggest that either study lacks merit. Or that either study has merit. In other words, this post is just my usual irreverent commentary. I'm pretty sure FDA regulations require me to say something like that.
