Pink October #12

Ford is auctioning off several Mustang convertibles on eBay to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The starting bid is just 50 bucks!

Well, OK, not real Mustang convertibles, Hot Wheels Mustang convertibles. But they are signed and 'decorated' by celebrities. Or by members of the NBC news team in Chicago. (Chicago? That's random, considering Ford is based near Detroit.)

Is this like a new trend or something? Get celebrities to sign cheap plastic stuff and then hawk it on eBay to raise money for breast cancer? *yawn* I thought it was interesting the first time I came across such a thing, but now I'm bored with the idea already. I only posted this because I was impressed that Courteney Cox and David Arquette went all out, even apparently nabbing some of Coco's glitter glue, to pimp out this toy Mustang.

If you dig it, the auction runs 9 more days. (All proceeds go to Komen.) Or if you prefer, buy a real pink-accented Mustang instead. ($250 to Komen for each one sold.)

As long as we have a society that is fascinated beyond belief with celebrities, we will see new and tackier versions of celeb-sell all the time.
