Antiques vs. Junk

As I was checking out some of the shops in Adamstown, PA - reportedly the antiques capital of the USA - I realized that the difference between junk and antiques is about 20 years.

Of course, I can never resist good old junk. I didn't have time to hit all the shops, but I really liked Lancaster County Antiques (pictured above) and the Mad Hatter Antique Mall. Clock Tower Antiques was too stuffy, though. Not only was it too pricey for someone like me who is used to shopping for junk slash antiques at Goodwill, all the locked glass cases were a huge turn-off. Putting breakables and little items that might otherwise get pocketed behind glass is OK, but otherwise I prefer to get up close and personal with the merchandise.
